Film Trailer: The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises
The length of the trailer is 2m 20s showing fighting scenes, crime, a bit of romance with the explosive and entertaining machinery used in the film that is represented in the trailer. The trailer conveys snippets of scenes consisting of action and thriller evolving in the genre. The establishment of characters are shown early on in the trailer for example the enemy ‘Bane’ is shown a couple of times, meaning he is the one of the main characters in the film. Therefore, the audience can understand the establishing characters in the film but the film has left some of the action out to surprise the audience and entice them with thrills and spills, to keep them edge of their feet.

The narrative of this trailer The Dark Knight Rises is a terrorist leader Bane that pushes the police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes. The mood of the trailer is suspicious and suspense from the eccentric background music of the trailer; this gives a sense of tone of the action in the film on what might happen next towards the audience eyes to keep them entertained and thrilled.

The diegetic sound is used at the start of the trailer with a boy singing the american national anthem in a  american football stadium influencing with a snippets of a gun in the frame. However, the whole concept of the american anthem symbolising innocence and peaceful doesn't prepare you on what might happen in the trailer later on.

Editing: The editing is slow pace, as it's gradually build up the tension within the film and trailer. As the trailer has a slow starter, to introduce the characters that are in the film therefore having a short take on what the characters are going to be like in the film. As we want to know the chracteristic of each chracters on part they play in the film: giving the audience the opportunity to feel the emotion of these characters to know how they will resemble in the film on what clues they give us, to know who is the enemy or hero in the film.  This could be seen by the use of action match editing: between batman and bane when they're fighting each other, the brutal strength of both characters trying defeat each other.
